Q. When does the Roller Hockey Season start?
A. We have a registration drive in September. Skate around evaluations, a draft and practices in October. The season usually starts the first week of November. Most Football programs including PAL and Middle School are over by the end of October.
Q. What are the ages of the players?
A. Hockey Clinic- 5-7 year olds (instructional and scrimmages)
Mite Division 8-9 year olds (All divisions play competitive games)
Squirt Division 10-11 year olds
Junior Division 12-13 year olds
Senior Division 14-17 year olds
*Players are sometimes moved up or down depending on ability, coaches input and registration numbers*
Q. Where are games played?
A. Mineola PAL Hockey is an intramural program, all games are played at Wilson Park, the Hockey Rink is located at Westbury Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Mineola. (Next to the Mineola Pool).
Q. What is the schedule for each division?
The Clinic is Sunday mornings at 10am
The Mites play on Saturday and Sunday mornings after 10am
The Squirts play on Saturday and Sunday Afternoons
The Juniors play on Friday nights and Saturdays in the late afternoon
The Seniors play on Tuesday and Thursday nights
Mondays and Wednesdays are generally used for practices and make ups.
Q. How long does the season last?
A. Depending on the weather as the rink is outdoors the season usually runs from the beginning of November to the end of January, this includes the playoffs. Every team makes the playoffs!
The Mineola PAL also has a Football and Lacrosse program. We work our schedule between Football which ends in October and Lacrosse which starts practicing in February.
